Viasat Grove
Underused space transformed into a social spot for coworkers. A bamboo forest acts as a buffer from vehicles. Shade sails keep things comfortable. People now like meetings.
GroundLevel was challenged by Viasat to re-imagine an underused space between two existing campus buildings. The solution included a space for socialization, games, lunchtime and evening meetings, and events and relaxation. The space, appropriately named “The Grove,” is surrounded by a tall bamboo hedge that buffers it from the surrounding parking lots and contains multiple architectural shade structures nestled between specimen Sycamore and Oak shade trees that create cooling shade and a comfortable scale for the various gathering spaces beneath them.
