GroundLevel collaborated with HGW and DPR Construction to design the new Sharp Rees-Stealy Santee Medical Center—an essential community hub serving East San Diego County after several years of limited access to local care.

Rooted in the surrounding landscape, the site design embraces views of nearby mountains and complements the architecture’s warm, granite-inspired palette. GroundLevel’s approach includes shaded walkways, ADA-accessible perimeter circulation, and sustainable strategies to reduce heat island effects—including solar-integrated parking areas that provide shade and help power the facility. A dedicated outdoor patio for medical staff offers a peaceful retreat, creating space to recharge while maintaining thoughtful separation from the public-facing areas.
